How it all started
William Yeboah is a dynamic and purpose-driven chef, entrepreneur, and cultural curator—born and raised in the heart of The Bronx, NY, with deep Ghanaian roots. His culinary spark wasn’t ignited under the glow of a restaurant’s heat lamp, but at home, where meals were soulful, spices spoke louder than words, and cooking was a language of love passed down across generations. It was there, in those early moments of curiosity and experimentation, that William first began blending flavors as a form of creative expression.
While pursuing Computer Science at Tompkins Cortland Community College, William’s leadership spark ignited. He founded the Afrikan Caribbean Association (ACA)—a vibrant student-led initiative that celebrated heritage, identity, and unity. Under his presidency, the ACA became a platform for cultural education, dialogue, and innovation. What started as weekend meals sold to fellow students quickly grew into immersive cooking sessions and the creation of the ACA Food Festival, a campus event that celebrated the diverse flavors of the African and Caribbean diaspora.
William’s love for food was never just about taste—it was about connection, history, and storytelling. He taught himself to cook by blending tradition with innovation, while leveraging his tech background to research ingredients, regional techniques, and global foodways. His mission became clear: to craft unforgettable culinary experiences that transcend borders.
In January 2019, he launched Make It Zesty! (MIZ)—an international cuisine catering company and culinary academy designed to inspire flavor, culture, and community. MIZ blends William’s dual passions for food and technology, creating an experience that’s both delicious and deeply rooted in cultural authenticity.
Since its inception, Make It Zesty! has partnered with renowned brands such as Hawaiian Rolls, COLUMBUS® Craft Meats, DILUSSO® Genoa Salami, and Springer Mountain Farms for engaging food demos and product showcases. William has also led live culinary workshops and catered bespoke cultural events at top institutions like Cornell University, Columbia University, Teachers College, and his alma mater, Tompkins Cortland Community College.
